Sam Zhang has been creating music through Digital Audio Workstations since 2017. He is fascinated by the innovations and unconventional elements he discovers in game music, and therefore loves creating the latest electronic fusion styles for use in game soundtracks. He is also inspired from Doujin music from Japan, which reflects on his production style and range. His goal is to bring his favourite electronic elements and latest genres to games and creative visuals with high quality, creating impactful works.
Sam is experienced in creating with mainstream DAWs including Ableton Live, FL studio and Logic Pro, producing common game music genres and a wide range of electronic music genres, and implementing his own music into games developed by any engine by using Wwise. He has gained experience through two indie game development projects during 2024-25, and the game “Recur” has participated in the Chinajoy Game fest, and he contributed 6 original soundtracks in the demo.
Sam also does plane visual designs using tools including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Blender. He is fond of creating video content for his music and uploading them on social media, so he also has skills in creating video from scratch and editing them.
Sam is currently composing music for another indie game project in development. He is experimenting with a more adaptive and interactive form of game music that blends elements of jazz, electronic, j-rock, and world music.
